July dump

In a pitiful attempt to keep my promise of updating more periodically, here's my July sketch dump:



I've been pumping out at least one colored drawing a week (mostly commissions), but because I need that fast turn-around I don't have a whole lot of time to sketch and explore each one before I lay down the final lines. The stuff on the upper right corner is for a drawing I've been working on and off for a while now, while the stuff below it is a concept for a series of girls with kimonos inspired by different fish. If you've been following my stuff for any amount of time you might be able to catch Kei, my Vespa girl, in there too.

Here's what the sketches on the bottom left corner turned into. It's a commission for an artist I really like on DA, so I got real excited about it <3

Progress...

...Of a commission I'm working on. This is only the lineart; the color will come once I get approval from the commissioner. I'm having such a fun time with the character since she's so adorable!

A quick image of a drawing I'm doing on the side. She belongs to a friend of mine, who gave me the opportunity to work with his adorable characters when I was so sick of drawing fat old men. I'm going to make this one count, since I can almost see myself going through girly-drawing withdrawal.

Senior Film: Backgrounds

I've officially got less than 2 weeks until I go back to the states, and until then I'm really hoping to get as many backgrounds rendered out for my film as I can. I'm starting out with the most complex one so I haven't gotten very far (and I mean "complex" comparatively. They're all pretty simple, so even my most complex of the bunch is still pretty simple). I'm also trying out a completely different style, so it's taking quite a while.

But enough excusin'. Have a quick preview:



I want a very soft, picture book-esque feel. What do you think? Feedback would be very much appreciated <3

Kei

So lately I've been on a roll with everything not related to my senior film ^_^;;; I did finish my animatic, but unfortunately my computer won't export it into a movie file without completely wrecking the quality so I can't post it here until I get back to school. Which sucks, since I was really hoping I could get some critiques and stuff before then.

But either way, I'll be having my art direction in fairly soon, and hopefully a couple backgrounds too. In the meantime, have some more of my Vespa girl. I changed her name to Kei, and now her Vespa's name is Sora. In case anyone noticed. >_>



A little graphic-y. I wanted to make something summery and subtle-y sexy.



I have a big elaborate background in the works for this one. Hopefully I can get it done without completely taking time away from my senior film.... >w>;;

Updates!

I'm just about 4/5 of the way done with my Marie Antoinette film. It's no work of animated art, but I think it went relatively well. Of course I'll post it when it's done, but until then, here's a little teaser:

It's Saturday, which means I only have one more day of sweet, sweet, Spring Break left. I had so much I wanted to accomplish this week, and I didn't even get half of it done >A<;;; Although I did come up with ideas for my senior film and my flash short, so I guess I can't complain. Hopefully I'll have some new model sheets to show by the end of tomorrow, but until then I'm going to put up another WIP:

I've finally resumed coloring this. It's been a good couple weeks since I really sat down and colored a background, and I feel rusty already. Nonetheless, here is a progress shot:

Mysterious underground

Weather wasn't as gloriously spring-like as yesterday, but I still managed to have ice-cream in a cute retro parlor with one of my favorite professors and friends, so all is well. There was also some Smash Brother-ing and pizza eating to celebrate the official end of the quarter, so all in all I am satisfied. Tomorrow's supposed to rain though, so I guess I'll be getting some quality coloring time in.

I got a fair way into coloring this, but while I was moving this file around on my computer I managed to delete it, bringing me back beautifully to square one. I haven't touched it since. ;_; I think I'll start again tomorrow.
