My first assignment of the quarter:
Our class had to design/develop one out of a list of 4 iconic figures: Rumplestiltzkin, Cleopatra, Genghis Khan, or Sherlock Holmes and then work with him/her for the rest of the quarter. Hopefully I'll have clips of my Cleo animated and doing exciting things in the near future.

Progress...
...Of a commission I'm working on. This is only the lineart; the color will come once I get approval from the commissioner. I'm having such a fun time with the character since she's so adorable!

faster, faster!
I'm starting to pick up the habit of laying down really minimal gestures on paper and then moving straight into inking/coloring on the computer in an effort to save time but also because I always want to be coloring ASAP. Mostly the latter.

Color:
I also like having the freedom to mess with the drawing in the inking stage; I feel less constricted with my looser sketches. For those of you who illustrate digitally, how do you like to go from beginning to end?

Dump
Sketch dump, that is.
These should all be from February, I think. I've started leaving my pencil sketches really rough and going straight into inking in photoshop from there (the Burlesque girls are relatively detailed, but...), so it's interesting to see how different these look cleaned up.
